MY JOURNEY ON FOOD

My journey began in Mexico and Kenya, working and studying alongside small family farmers. This laid the foundation for my early career at Twin, a key player in the fair-trade movement. There, my focus was on supporting farmer cooperatives in Africa and South America and promoting the growth of the fair trade market.

After Twin, I joined the sustainability non-profit Forum for the Future where I led local initiatives on sustainable food and energy. My work contributed to Bristol becoming a European Green Capital.

Expanding on my Twin experience, I played a pivotal role in Tea 2030, the first global sustainability project to bring together major players in the industry to chart a sustainable future for the tea sector.

As a senior member of Forum's food team, I led corporate sustainability strategy development with leading businesses such as Jordans Ryvita, M&S, Unilever, and Waitrose. My work extended to partnerships with major companies in the US and Malaysia.

I initiated the Protein Challenge 2040, the first international coalition focused on transforming the production and consumption of protein within environmental limits. The project evolved into a global collaboration involving over 20 organisations in the food industry, inspiring action and change worldwide.

I've recently stepped back as the Executive Director of Eating Better, a coalition of over 60 influential non-governmental organisations. In this role, I helped expand the coalition’s influence to accelerate a shift towards a fairer, healthier, and more sustainable food system.

I am extremely grateful for the opportunities I’ve had throughout my career to work on issues of planetary health and social justice. I’ve got to learn and grow with the support of many passionate people across different countries and continents, a huge privilege that continues to inspire me.
